The Italian Government’s Ministry for Economic Development has authorised the issue of a €0.95 Borsalino stamp. The stamp belongs to the ‘Excellence in Manufacturing and the Economic System’ series, and was presented on 4th April 2017, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the company’s foundation.
“The stamp pays homage to a brand that is a prominent Italian-made brand”, said the Head of Philately at Poste Italiane, Giovanni Accusani, “With its creations, Borsalino has helped to spread Italian style around the world. But most of all it is a recognition of those who keep up this tradition, with creativity and skilled craftsmanship. The success of these products in an increasingly globalised and competitive market is a fundamental point of strength, and one that our country depends on.”
“This stamp is an hommage to the company's history. To honor its history also means to address the present and to look at the future” declared Rita Rossa, Alessandria's mayor, “to look to the future with Haeres Equita's ability, courage and intuition. This company has increased revenues, consolidated the production and made incredible progresses.”
Printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato S.p.A., the stamp shows the Borsalino logo, one of the celebrated felt hats produced in Alessandria and the caption ‘160 years of manufacturing’.
