Queen Elizabeth, 60 years of hats!

In 2012, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee and without question her sixty-year reign represents an important segment of British history. The longest-lived English sovereign of all time will certainly be remembered by posterity for her rigour and firmness, but we'd like to bet on the fact that a large part of the credit must also go to the endless array of hats and caps that she has sported throughout her life.

Those intrepid people who have tried to keep count speak of five thousand hats in 50 years. All duly matching her clothes and the passing seasons, Elizabeth's headwear has marked more than an era: hundreds of colours, pastel shades for the most part, and dozens of shapes and materials - from the wide-brimmed fur hat, felt, to straw - have made Elizabeth II a real collector. Perhaps one of the best stocked! What more is there to say? The pictures speak for themselves!
